Emily Fisher is a designer, blogger, girlboss, and youtuber and when we came across her blog we couldn’t help but be sucked into her technicolour world of rainbow hues. Her penchant for strong, colourful design and all things sparkly is definetly something we at Bubble T Cosmetics can relate to. We just had to find out more and luckily for us, she was happy to answer some questions. Read our interview and prepare to be inspired by Emily's vibrant world and her entrepreneurial spirit.
1. What inspired you to start blogging?
I run my own business, The Photo Booth by Fishee Designs. I always just knew I was meant to do more with life and wanted to inspire other people like me who ran their own business. Hell, if I can do it anyone can! It's developed in to its own Mermaid Gossip entity now and everything feels like it's in the right place for world domination ;)
2. So you also design all sorts from logos to websites, how did you get into that?
I do, I originally trained as a graphic designer at college and after some years and through a series of events, I ended up starting the photo booth business first whilst designing all my own branding and websites and got back in to the design side and worked on both the photo booth business and also doing design work on the side and now after being completely self taught (in every element of the business!) I've built many websites for clients including an ecommerce platform for a massive wedding blog!
3. What are your on the go beauty must haves?
Powder and a brush, I get pretty shiny! But my handbag always seems to fill up with ALL the lip products!
4. Bath or shower?
We actually don't have a bath so I'm forced to say shower (it is a bath-sized shower..!).
5. How did you come up with the name ‘Mermaid Gossip’?
The collective noun for a group of mermaids is a gossip! After MUCH deliberation over many name ideas and searching availability on the socials and domains, when it was free I knew it was right, it just worked!
6. What do you think the most important thing is when blogging?
Wow, one thing?! I'm going to go with Brand consistency. Its so important to keep on brand everywhere!
7. Have you always been so colourful?
There were a few darker years, but aside from those, yeah mostly!
8. We love how creative you are especially with colour. Where do you get your inspiration from?
All around me, I just try to find the colour in life, which trust me, is harder than you'd think!
9. What advice would you give to aspiring bloggers/designers?
Try on as many different "you's" as you need until the one that fits and works for you. Always continue to learn and evolve and embrace the change. Above all be consistent!
10. Do you have a beauty ritual?
I struggle at times to take my make up off at night but I'm trying!
11. What are your favourite beauty trends for SS16
I don't really follow trends exactly, I'm aware of them from the world I live online but I prefer to stick to what I love and know works from me. That's quite varied but I just tend to dress how I feel in the moment!
12. We noticed your style is very quirky which we love! Where do you like to shop?
I love a bargain and I buy a lot of stuff on eBay, You can find unique inexpensive everything there!
